You may see this picture or something similar in the weeks to come. When I first saw it in my Facebook feed, I was startled. Does the Bible really say these things? Being the curious person I am, I did a little research. You might find what I learned helpful – I sure did. Two other verses are quoted in the argument that God/Bible supports abortion –you can find them simply by searching any one of the verses in the meme.

Numbers 5:11-31 applies to any woman suspected of adultery by a jealous husband. “Miscarriage” is incorrect and only found in two translations. “The vast majority of English translations seem to speak of the woman undergoing some sort of disfigurement if she were guilty.“ Neither of two views on the word miscarriage suggest a baby in the womb has no value. My additional thought is that the woman has no choice in the ritual – she is at the mercy of a man. If a person believes ‘my body, my choice’ this passage is incongruous.

Exodus 21:22-24 must consider the literal Hebrew words to mean a child is born rather than a miscarriage. The passage assumes a fine for a premature birth. Injury/death to the mother or baby has a more serious penalty.

Genesis 2:7 According to the Bible, human life begins at conception. Science/biology also attributes life to when a zygote results from fertilization. I agree with the thought that Adam and Eve were created by God, not born. All other human life if brought forth by formation in the uterus and a trip down the birth canal. The baby no longer needs oxygen through the mother’s blood.

Although I read several articles, the ones I found most logical are linked below.
